ABOUT Noir Why February
Why February is a non-profit organization devoted to promoting Black men’s health.  The major focus is on cancer awareness.  The founder, DeeDee McPhaul lost her husband, Colonel John H. McPhaul Jr. to stomach cancer at the age of 57.   John was active, physically fit, and training for a fitness competition.  He was proactive with his health.  He was misdiagnosed with advanced acid reflux.   The pain of losing her husband, turned into a passion to educate others on health.  Black men have the lowest life expectancy of any demographic.  Our goal is to change that statistic through educating Black men on health issues, the importance of medical care, patient advocation, second opinions and recognizing symptoms of diseases that are often ignored in the black community.
